Anyone using substances to perform their work duties is obligated to conduct a risk assessment and provide training concerning the use of the substance. Substances include, silicones, cleaning agents, acids, welding chemicals and so on. The risks in using these substances need to be clearly defined.
Often obtaining a Material Safety Data Sheets is a tedious task, and many don't know where to obtain them.
TSA is developing online training for substances use. Courses will be supported by online MSDS's, which can be downloaded and included in Work Method Statements and other documentation used within the OH&S compliance framework.
