Fire and Evacuation Plan
Fire and Evacuation Plans are now considered an encompassing document that must contain:
- Alerting and communicating with persons in the building
- Alerting QFRS including manually operated alarms
- Method of operation of firefighting equipment.
- Evacuation of special needs persons both staff and the public (including those affected by liquor and those working in areas with restricted access e.g. basements, contractor in certain plant areas, on rooftops, etc)
- Informing the Evacuation Co-ordinator of the number of persons evacuated and the number and identity of those not accounted for
- Evacuation diagram/s
- Evacuation instructions for evacuating the building in accordance with the evacuation procedures
- Training plan for staff and any other required occupants.
- The name(if any) and address of the building
- Name, address, phone number and electronic contact details of both the owner and occupier
- Any alternative solution used in the building that includes a fire safety management procedure as a condition of occupation of the building. E.g. a restriction on the number and distribution of a building’s occupants. The plan must reflect this condition in the procedures.
- A copy of relevant approval documents for the building
- Any changes to the building that would affect the plan or the makeup of persons named in the plan or their details, must be changed in the plan within 1 month of the change.
- Fire and Evacuation plans must be kept in written form be available for inspection in the building during its normal business hours to a person free of charge.
- The Plan must be formally reviewed at intervals of not more than 1 year. This review must be kept in written form.
